A leading general insurance company in India offering a wide range of insurance products, including crop, pet, fire, and non-crop insurance. The company aimed to modernize its internal claim management system to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and user experience across all non-motor insurance categories.

Challenges

The client faced multiple operational and technical challenges with their existing Non-Motor Claim (NM Claim) system:

Different claim types were handled in separate systems, leading to inconsistent processes and data management.

The old system, built on MVC, struggled with performance and was due for an upgrade.

Claim processing was slow and not user-friendly, impacting team productivity.

If any integrated external system (like DWH) went down, new claims couldn’t be generated.

Adding new claim types, such as pet or object insurance, required complex development efforts.

Solution Provided

To overcome these challenges, a unified and scalable Non-Motor Claim System was developed using the latest technologies including .NET 8.0 and Angular 19.0, with the database migrated from Oracle to PostgreSQL.

Key highlights of the solution include:

Unified Platform: Consolidated all non-motor insurance types (Crop, Non-Crop, Pet, Object, and SME Fire) under one integrated system.

Task Scheduler Optimization: : Introduced a console-based scheduler to manage data synchronization and bulk uploads efficiently, eliminating unnecessary real-time sync.

Configurable Matching Rules: All background processes, such as DWH and Earth sync, are rule-based and easily configurable.

Bulk Upload Feature: Enabled users to upload multiple claims simultaneously using Excel templates, drastically reducing manual effort.

The modernized system delivered measurable improvements in performance, accuracy, and user experience:

Seamless Integrations: Smooth connectivity with external systems like DWH and Earth ensured uninterrupted claim processing.

Enhanced User Experience: A simplified interface made the system easier to use and significantly faster.

90% Reduction in Manual Work: The bulk upload functionality minimized manual data entry, allowing users to focus on critical tasks.

Improved Accuracy: Standardized templates and validations reduced human errors and ensured precise claim calculations.

On-Time Month-End Closures: Month-end processes were completed 100% on time with over 85% fewer user or data exceptions, ensuring reliable financial reporting.
