Challenges

The client faced several complex business challenges related to their core product, Lumber:

Unit of Measure (UOM) Complexity: Lumber is quoted in Board Feet (BF) and Material in Square Feet (SQFT), but both are converted to pieces for inventory and order fulfillment. Misalignment between quoting, operational, and inventory units caused difficulties in pricing, ordering, and stock management.

Manual UOM Conversions: The ordering process required manual calculations to convert UOMs into pieces, increasing the risk of errors and inefficiencies.

Inventory Categorization and Reporting: The need to categorize lumber based on attributes and generate detailed inventory reports added another layer of complexity.

Price Calculation Accuracy: Ensuring precise price calculations during the order creation process, based on different UOMs, was challenging without automation.
